Meet the Fourth Grade Teacher Ms. Mary Jo Hicks

Mary Jo was born in Pittsburgh, Pa.  She moved to River Forest, IL when she was in first grade.  She attended St. Vincent Ferrer Grade School and Trinity High School in River Forest.  After graduating from St. Mary’s College, Notre Dame, Ind., with a BA in Theatre, she went to DePaul University in Chicago.  While at DePaul she earned her elementary education certification and a Masters in Human Services and Counseling. Her first teaching position was in District #89 where she taught 4th grade for ten years.  Then she went to St. Luke School where she taught 6-8th Social Studies and Reading for six years.  She comes to Our Lady of Tepeyac from Annunciation BVM School where she taught 5th grade for thirteen years.

Mary Jo enjoys the theatre and had directed school plays at Annunciation.  She likes to spend time in her garden with her three dogs: Lucy – a teacup Poodle, Oliver – a Pug, and Jimmy – a very naughty English Bulldog.  This will be Mary Jo’s third year at Our Lady of Tepeyac. She is looking forward to sharing her faith and love of Jesus and Blessed Mother with her 4th grade students.
