We wish to welcome you into the OLT family! The admissions process begins when the family requests an application, schedules a tour and meets with the school principal. Once you have completed the initial steps, you will be guided through the application process by our dedicated admissions team. We believe in creating a warm and welcoming environment for all new members of our community.

New Student Admission Policy

- Students enrolling for the first time need to fulfill all state requirements. - All students must submit the necessary documentation as per admission criteria.
Transfer Student Admission Guidelines
- Transfer students from other schools must also meet all state requirements. It is essential for students to maintain excellent behavioral records. - Transfer students should present previous school records reflecting a positive attitude towards academics and extracurricular activities. All transfer students will need to undergo an interview with the principal. - All students must submit the necessary documentation as per admission criteria.
Admissions Requirements
Illinois law requires that children must be 3 years old by September 1 in order to enroll in pre-school and 5 years old by September 1 in order to enroll in Kindergarten. Children enrolling in pre-school or kindergarten must be potty trained.
In order to enroll you need the following documents: - Birth Certificate - Baptismal Certificate (if baptized) - Dental Exam: For students entering Pre-Kindergarten, 2nd, and 6th grades. Forms available in the office. - Vision Screening: Students entering our school for the time must bring proof of vision screening. Especially students entering Kindergarten. - Physical and Immunizations: Illinois requires students to have a complete physical and be immunized against measles, mumps, polio, rubella, whooping cough, tetanus, diphtheria, hepatitis B, haemophilus, influenza, and varicella. Especially children entering Pre-Kinder, 2nd, and 6th grades. Forms available in the office. - Academic Records: If possible, please bring most recent report card, withdrawal form from previous school and/or transcripts. Students in grades 6th to 8th will also need copies of any discipline records.

Where is the school located?We are located in the Little Village Neighborhood of Chicago’s southwest side at 2235 S. Albany Ave. We are easily accessible from the Pink line train and many CTA buses.

What is OLT’s enrollment and average class size?We currently have 189 students enrolled, that’s an average of 18 students per classroom! Our small class size allows students more one-on-one time with their teacher, helping teachers better identify their students’ academics needs.

Do you have an after-school program?Yes, our after school program starts at 3:00 pm and ends at 6:00 pm every day. We recognize that a majority of our parents work long hours and need a safe place for their children to work and play. Our after-school program provides a free healthy snack and weekly activities including tutoring from our very own teachers/staff. There is a modest program fee of only $5 per day for 1 child.

Is financial assistance available?Yes! We work with every family who qualifies for financial assistance. Eligibility is based on a review of family income/expenses and tax returns. While the Big Shoulders Fund provides many of our students with need-based and merit scholarships, we actively raise funds throughout the year to secure grants from various agencies to keep our Catholic school tuition affordable. Can my child enroll after the school year starts?Yes, we have open enrollment for grades Preschool through 8th grade, depending on classroom size. All transfer students in grades 6-8 must first complete an interview with the principal. Parents are encouraged to make an appointment for this interview and to bring the most recent report card or student records for the principal to review.

Do the students wear uniforms?Yes, boys wear navy blue dress pants and white, red, or navy blue polo shirts. Girls wear uniforms from Schoolbelle’s. – Girls in Kindergarten through third grade wear a plaid jumper and girls in grades four through eighth wear a plaid skirt. Girls also wear white, red, or navy blue blouses or polo shirts with their jumpers/skirts. – Optional: Boys and Girls may wear navy or red sweaters and sweater vests anytime during the year. – Our gym uniforms are only available for sale from the school office. Students must wear their gym uniform on scheduled days. – Preschoolers wear the gym uniform every day. We sponsor several out of uniform days in keeping with school holidays or special events and celebrations.

Are there any extra-curricular activities?We offer many after school clubs such as Ballet Folkloric, Choir, Gardening Club, Chess Club, Student Council, Jewelry Club, and more. OLT GS participates in seasonal sports such as Volleyball, Soccer, and Basketball. There is also tutoring twice per week required for students receiving academic scholarships
